splining hardwood planks

I have an old yellow stringy hull, been dry 10 years, 40 ft, inch planks, hard chine, chine needs splines to close gaps for caulking.

Need to spline and fit some patches.

What wood is best to make splines and what glue or epoxie is best?

Dry Seams

You say that she has been dry for 10 years, I wonder if those gaps might close up quite a lot if she was wetted.

The main considerations for splining timber is that it should glue well and if you want to do long strips it should have long straight grain with no knots.
