17' Vintage Wood Boat Project 1958 McNiel

by Greg
(Lavonia, Ga)

I have a 1958 McNiel 17' boat.

My research shows it was sold by Western Auto.

It has mahogany seats which I had begun to strip and sand.

I have all the parts, I just was not able to finish the project.

The boat will be an easy restoration, no rot anywhere.

I bought it at a yard sale about 20 years ago.

It has always been garaged.

It has a 40 hp Wizard motor.

There is a brass plate that says Scottdale, Georgia(a suburb of Atlanta) and I am guessing that is where it was manufactured.

I have not been able to find any record of McNiel Boats Manufacturers from that time.

The boat is located on Lake Hartwell.

I would love to see this boat brought back to its original glory but I am not able to do it and am willing to pass it on to someone that can finish her up.

Interesting trades considered. 4 wheeler 2 wheeler 1,500 OBO
