Bronze Screws

Is there a trick to removing silicon bronze wood screws?

They always strip or the heads break off.

Screw that!

First make sure that the screwdriver bit is the correct fit, for a slotted screw the bit should fill the slot both widthways and lengthways.

Then you want some heat.

You can either use a soldering iron to heat the screw by holding the hot tip on the head of the screw for a few minutes.

Or use either a hairdryer or paint stripper heat gun to warm the wood for a few minutes and then before the wood has time to cool try the screw.

If that doesn't work I'm afraid you'll just have to drill them out.

While the original system worked quite well as a one-off post, it didn’t allow for updating or posting new photographs etc.

That is why I have introduced the new Your Pages.

This is new ‘Community’ platform is for 2018.

It is designed to put you in control of your content, make it easier to for you to tell us about your Wooden Boat, upload photos etc. and most of all post updates as and when you wish to.

There is also a forum where you can ask any questions you may have about Wooden Boats and join in the conversations.
