The Maine Community Foundation Community Building Grant Program recently awarded $99,847 in grants to 25 Hancock County non-profit organisations.

Applications for MMAPSS grants now open

The Maritime Museums of Australia Project Support Scheme (or MMAPSS) annual grants program is now open to support eligible Australian organisations that care for and preserve Australia’s rich maritime heritage.
The National Maritime Museum is calling on Sydney’s Wooden Boat owners to showcase their classic vessels at this year’s Classic & Wooden Boat Festival.

Build Your Own at Farley Boat Works

At Farley Boat Works in Port Aransas, Texas you can build your own boat with the help of volunteers from the Port Aransas Museum.

They can also spent time with two boatbuilding "old-timers" to learn more specific construction techniques.


The Carpenter’s Boat Shop

For more than thirty years The Carpenter’s Boat Shop in Bristol has helped people learn how to build wooden boats. 

The apprentices come to the school for nine months from all walks of life, some are people with serious issues like addiction, others are just people looking for a new direction.


Small Craft Skills Academy

The Small Craft Skills Academy is an experience based skill development workshop for small boat sailors.

Venues include; Cedar Key, Florida, Port Townsend, Washington, Straits of Mackinac, Michigan, Rockport, Texas, Monterey Bay, California and Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma.

Boat Building and Rowing on Lake Huron

Heritage Coast Sailing and Rowing is a new not for profit corporation, whose purpose is to encourage sailing and rowing and to preserve historic regional boat designs.
It is in the process of building a 23 foot Mackinaw boat, named the Heritage 23.

Plywood Boat Building Classes in Connecticut

Registrations are open for a plywood boat building classes where participants will build a 17' plywood dory.
The class is scheduled to meet on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5-7 pm, from April 4 to June 1.
