Thank you for your instruction on the removal of the above

My boat is an old style Irish wooden boat built circa 1925,

Somewhere in the past a repair had been attempted and botched, reading your words gave me the confidence to have a go myself it is built of larch on teak

Thanks again
P J

stem head extension on a 14' scandinavian sloop
by: Anonymous

Hello, I've just paid for the build of a NEW 14' open lapstrake sail/oar sloop by a professional boatbuilder.

Am pretty discouraged though, as toward the end of side decking this scandinavian style double ender sloop, the builder took the liberty to cut the stem head not only flush to the decking, but on a downward pitch to receive a 'standard Davey stem head fitting' that was not on the original plans.

I had originally requested that both stems be cut raised UP ABOVE the decking in THAT STYLE of boat, like a faering, I had sent earlier pictures of.

Anyway. long story short, can I extend the stem head by scarfing a new piece into the existing cut off one and raise the stem head also supported to the deck as I originally requested?

Thank you, Ron McNally
